SportExcel-Milo-NSC-MTBC National Junior Circuit 2011 GP ranking points and qualifiers

After 2 East Malaysia legs of the annual SportExcel-Milo-NSC-MTBC National Junior Circuit 2010 in Sarawak and Sabah, the 14 available tickets to the GP Finals has been filled.

More than 130 participants in various grades took part to vie for qualificationn points for the year end finale in Sunway Pyramid, Selangor D.E. where they will have a chance to pit their skills against their counterparts from the Western side of Malaysia and be crowned as national champions. A full year's worth of bragging rights apart from medals and prize money awaits the victors.

In our home leg, we won 5 out of the 6 gold medals that were up for grabs in the Boys Under-12, Girls U-12, Girls Graded, Girls Open and Boys Open only losing out the Boys Graded. No clean sweep but definitely no small feat by our young state trainees. With a 3 week interval in between the legs, it was off to the land below the wind, Sabah, and our boys and girls did us proud by claiming 4 of the 6 golds thus qualifying 9 out of the 14 available slots for the GP Finals.

The qualifiers are Girls U-12 - Gillian Lim Siew Geok (Miri), Boys U-12 - Abang Afiq Yazid bin Abang Azman (Kuching), Alistair Ting Lik Yang (Miri), Girls Graded - Jocelyna Judith Jonathan (Kuching), Boys Graded - Abang Azlan Yunus Bin Abang Azman (Kuching), Mohd Uzair Irsyad Bin Noor Azrul (Kuching), Girls Open - Jackelyn Ng Shuk Chuen (Kuching), and Boys Open - Daniel Tan Yan Han (Kuching), Jonathan Ding Sagan (Kuching).

The Borneo Post (12.07.2011)

KUCHING: She was not among the big money winners but Sarawakian Jacqueline Sijore Jenelee enjoyed another victorious outing with the national Elite bowling squad who swept the top three positions at the San Marino Open 2011 over the weekend.

Jacqueline, who qualified for the finals of the European Bowling Tour event in 12th position, lost out to team-mate Adrian Ang in the second game (225-202, 209-279) of the Finals 3.

Adrian in turn was beaten by Guangzhou Asian Games two-gold medallist Alex Liew in the Final.

Alex, the most senior bowler in the national Elite squad, proved that he is as good as ever by capturing the San Marino Cup and winning a handsome payout of Euro 10,000 (RM42,565).

Adrian pocketed Euro 6,000 (RM25,539) while Esther Cheah won Euro 3,400 (RM14,472) for finishing third and ending up as the best women’s bowler at the tournament.

A total of 221 bowlers from all over the world competed at the event held at the Gold Rose’n Bowl Bowling Center in the San Marino Republic.

The performance of the Malaysian girls, especially Jacqueline and Esther, who had qualified for the finals in 6th place overall, bodes well for their chances in September’s World Women Championships in Hong Kong and the 2011 SEA Games in Jakarta in December.
