Quote of the day!!!

"Always come to practice and train hard as if you are the worst but when its time to compete, perform as if you are the best."
Angelo Koay - U.S.PT.N. Sarawak AA Coach for tenpin bowling

Whether you are at present the best in your sport, always practice as if you are, ability and technically, the worst so you may train even harder to further strengthen the basics and fundamentals of your game. When championship time arrives, its time to compete with knowledge and rationale in your head and confidence and self belief in your heart that you are the best regardless if the field is full of greater, bigger and more well-known names.

Quote of the day!!!

“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.”

Just by talent you'll win some tournaments now and then but it's with the teamwork of your efforts, attitude, discipline, commitment, determination and desire that will win you the major championships.

Quote of the day!!!

“A particular shot or way of moving the ball can be a player's personal signature, but efficiency of performance is what wins the game for the team.”
Patrick (Pat) James Riley (born March 20, 1945) is a former American professional basketball player and then head coach in the NBA. Currently, he is team president of the Miami Heat. Widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time, Riley has served as the head coach of five championship teams and an assistant coach to another. He most recently won the 2006 NBA Championship with the Miami Heat. Prior to his tenure in Miami, he served as head coach for the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks. He was named NBA Coach of the Year three times (1989–90, 1992–93 and 1996–97, as head coach of the Lakers, Knicks and Heat, respectively). He was head coach of the NBA All-Star Game teams nine times: eight of the Western team (1982, 1983, 1985–1990, all as head coach of the Lakers) and once of the Eastern team (1993, as head coach of the Knicks). In 1996 he was named one of 10 Greatest Coaches in the NBA history. As a player he played for the Los Angeles Lakers' championship team in 1972, bringing his personal total to seven NBA titles.

Though he was talking about basketball but it does apply to our sport of tenpin bowling. Even if you can release the ball with good speed and revs with a decent amount of hook but if you can't direct the ball and pick up your spares then you and your team ain't gonna win as we don't score points for flare and style.

Quote of the day!!!

"An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets.  He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head."
Emil Zátopek (Czech pronunciation: [ˈɛmɪl ˈzaːtopɛk] (September 19, 1922 – November 22, 2000) was a Czech long-distance runner best known for winning three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He won gold in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres runs, but his final medal came when he decided at the last minute to compete in the first marathon of his life. He was nicknamed the "Czech Locomotive" for his multiple golds.
Zátopek was the first athlete to break the 29-minute barrier in the 10 km run (in 1954). Three years earlier, in 1951, he had broken the hour for running 20 km. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest runners of the 20th century and was also known for his brutally tough training methods.

Work hard and train with lots of heart in realizing your dreams and not with thoughts of rewards both fame and fortune only in your head.

Thomas Charles Lasorda (born September 22, 1927 in Norristown, Pennsylvania) is a former Major League baseball pitcher and manager. 2009 marks his sixth decade in one capacity or another with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers organization, the longest non-continuous (he played one season with the Kansas City Athletics) tenure anyone has had with the team, edging Dodger broadcaster Vin Scully by a single season. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager in 1997.

"Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common."
Leroy Robert "Satchel" Paige (July 7, 1906 – June 8, 1982) was an American baseball player whose pitching in the Negro leagues and in Major League Baseball made him a legend in his own lifetime. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971, the first player to be inducted from the Negro leagues.
Paige was a right-handed pitcher and was the oldest rookie to play Major League Baseball at the age of 42. He played with the St. Louis Browns until age 47, and represented them in the Major League All-Star Game in 1952 and 1953. Paige began his professional career in 1926 with the Chattanooga White Sox of the Negro Southern League, and played his last professional game on June 21, 1966, for the Peninsula Grays of the Carolina League.

Very simply put but very well said. When we were born, we were born like anybody else. What sets us apart from the rest and makes us special is when we decide to make something meaningful out of our lives, achieve our goals, realize our dreams and not just live our life by just being mediocre and common. No great champions ever believed that they are one of the billions of people in this world but lived their lives believing they are the special one out of the billions.

Quote of the day!!!

"Every kid around the world who plays soccer wants to be Pele. I have a great responsibility to show them not just how to be like a soccer player, but how to be like a man."
Edison "Edson" Arantes do Nascimento (born 21 or 23 October 1940), best known by his nickname Pelé is a retired Brazilian footballer. He is widely regarded among football experts and former players as one of the greatest football players of all time. In 1999, he was voted as the Football Player of the Century by the IFFHS International Federation of Football History and Statistics. In the same year French weekly magazine France-Football consulted their former "Ballon D'Or" winners to elect the Football Player of the Century. Pelé came in first position. In his career he scored 760 official goals, 541 in league championships, making him the top scorer of all time. In total Pelé scored 1281 goals in 1363 games.
In his native Brazil, Pelé is hailed as a national hero. He is known for his accomplishments and contributions to the game of football. He is also acknowledged for his vocal support of policies to improve the social conditions of the poor (when he scored his 1,000th goal he dedicated it to the poor children of Brazil). During his career, he became known as "The King of Football" (O Rei do Futebol), "The King Pelé" (O Rei Pelé) or simply "The King" (O Rei).
Spotted by football star Waldemar de Brito, Pelé began playing for Santos at 15 and his national team at 16, and won his first World Cup at 17. Despite numerous offers from European clubs, the economic conditions and Brazilian football regulations at the time benefited Santos, thus enabling them to keep Pelé for almost two decades until 1974. With Pelé within their ranks, Santos reach their zenith by winning the 1962 and 1963 Copa Libertadores, the most prestigious club competition in South American football. Pelé played as an inside second forward, also known as a playmaker. Pelé's technique and natural athleticism have been universally praised and during his playing years he was renowned for his excellent dribbling and passing, his pace, powerful shot, exceptional heading ability, and prolific goalscoring.
He is the all-time leading scorer of the Brazil national football team and is the only footballer to be a part of three World Cup-winning squads. In 1962 he was on the Brazilian squad at the start of the World Cup but because of an injury suffered in the second match, he was not able to play the remainder of the tournament. In November 2007 FIFA announced that he would be awarded the 1962 medal retroactively, making him the only player in the world to have three World Cup winning medals.

Kids, whatever sport you may be competitive in at whatever level you presently may be representing in, you have to remember you are an ambassador of the sport. Good attitude, discipline and sportsmanship should be maintained at all times. You are the idols of the next generation so lead them, show them and teach them the correct way so they can be the next perfect champion.

They captured four gold, two silver and one bronze medals to pip bowling giant Selangor by a silver medal for the top honour. This was a good improvement when compared to second overall finish last year with six silvers and one bronzes.

Selangor won four golds, one silver and five bronzes while third-placed Pulau Pinang had three golds, one silver and two bronzes and Sabah came in fourth with two golds, one silver and one bronze.

Another bowling powerhouse Kuala Lumpur could only manage one gold, four silvers and one bronze to settle for fifth.

Sarawak’s gold medals came from newly promoted national bowler Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore who won the Women’s Singles gold, Women’s Doubles gold with another national bowler Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana Abg Jamalidon and the Women’s Team gold together with Dayang Khairuniza, Caroline Chien and Nurafidza Mohd Amran Nur.

The other gold was delivered by Dayang Khairuniza in the Women’s All-Events.

Jacqueline added a silver to her collection by finishing second in the Women’s All-Events while Christopher Tiong and Muhd Syafiq Sajeli contributed a silver from the Boys Doubles event.

The solitary bronze came from dropped national back-up bowler Aris Ardilla Santosoh who finished third in the Men’s Singles.

“This is a fantastic result for us because we brought along our second stringers for exposure and we beat Selangor by one silver,” said team manager Robert Lu in a telephone interview from Kuala Lumpur.

“I am very satisfied with the results and at the same time we gave our Sukma backup squad members the exposure trip and yet we won the overall championship. What more can we ask for,” he added.

Lu, who is also Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (Abas) deputy president, said the state team’s victory at the interstate championship was based on the strength of the women’s team.

Meanwhile, Sarawak also did well in the Astro 35th National Closed Championship where they won three golds, two silvers and one bronze.

Sukma XIII gold medallist Chong Jun Foo won the gold in the Boys Open, Daniel Tan captured the Men’s Graded gold while Caroline Chien took the Women’s Graded gold.

The silvers were delivered by Dayang Khairuniza in the Women’s Masters and Dayang Aida Natasha in the Girls Graded while Aris Ardilla bagged the Boys Open bronze.

The state team is trained by head coach Jackson Ting and his assistants Reginald Walter Anggas, Angelo Koay and Jeff Chin.

Abas deputy president Shaifulbahri Shukri was the assistant team manager.

‘Amazing Sarawak’

KUCHING: Sarawak’s bowling chief coach Jackson Ting summed it right when asked to comment on his team’s super achievements in the Astro 35th National Championships and 24th Inter-State Championships which ended at Sunway Mega Lanes, here, yesterday.

“Amazing,” said Jackson.

The coach, who was national champion in 2000, saw Dayang Khairuniza Dhi ana Abang Jamallidon nearly emulate his feat when she came in second to national elite bowler Zandra Aziela of Selangor in the Women’s Open.

Dayang Khairuniza made the step-ladder final by beating another national elite team-mate, Zatil Iman of Selangor.Dayang Khairuniza’s team-mate Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore, returned 1928 pinfalls, to finish 8th in the first round.

Jacqueline, Dayang can go far: Holloway

KUCHING: Sarawak bowlers Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore and Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana can go far on the international bowling scene if they are willing to work harder at improving their game.

Already , said national chief coach Holloway Cheah yesterday, the two Sarawak girls who have been promoted to the national elite squad have two good factors in their favour.

“Jacqueline and Dayang are quite talented and have very good attitude. They can go far at international level if they put more efforts into their game.

“I have already started with them since they joined my squad and they have good attitude towards training,” said Holloway, when interviewed at Sunway Mega Lanes where Sarawak are compet ing in the 24th inter-state bowling championships.

Jacqueline quickly justified the faith of the national selectors by winning the women’s singles gold medal on Wednesday, despite suffering from jet-lag after coming back from Paris where she represented Malaysia in a Euro Challenge event.

Perhaps Holloway’s personal touch had had a part in polishing up Jacqueline’s game as all the national elite bowlers have to train under him for two hours, five times a week at the Mega Lanes bowling alley.

So Holloway was not really surprised when Jacqueline beat several more experienced national team mates, on the way to the singles gold medal.

“I had started working with them on the technical aspects of their game and Jacqueline has done well in winning the singles event.

“I am not surprised that she won because it was an open field. Anyone of them could have won it but I am happy for Jacqueline,” said Holloway.

Holloway also praised the Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (ABAS) for having good development programmes which have seen the state produced so many good bowlers.

“People like Jacqueline and Dayang are in good hands.

Sarawak also have good men’s and boy’s bowlers and I know of the ability of people like Chong Jun Foo and Aris Ardila,” said Holloway.

Aris Ardila, who had to go back to the national youth squad after the national backup squad were disbanded due to a cut in funding by the National Sports Council (NSC).

Syafiq and Christopher get silver for Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak, who started brilliantly when Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore won the women’s singles on Wednesday, had to wait until the boys’ doubles yesterday to win their second medal.

The pair of Sibu’s Christopher Tiong Lee Siong and Kuching’s Muhd Syafiq Sajeli won the silver medal when they came in second best to Selangor’s Muhammad Hafiz Fikri and Muhammad Aizudeen Mustaqim.

Christopher and Syafiq returned a total of 2,382 pinfalls over six games, losing by 48 pins to the Selangor pair who registered 2,430 pinfalls.

Third were Perak’s Muhammad Fazrin Khairul Faiz and Muhd Izzul Fahmi Ibrahim, who had a total of 2,345 pinfalls.

Earlier, Sarawak’s Kelvin Eng Mee Hee and Peter Pu Tze Liang could only finish seventh, with a total of 2,368 pinfalls, in the men’s doubles event won by national bowlers Aaron Kong and Adrian Ang of Selangor.

Aaron and Adrian totalled 2,587 pinfalls to beat Kang Bo Long and Muhd Nur Aiman of Johor, who returned 2,565.Third were the pair of national bowlers Alex Liew and Daniel Lim (Selangor), who had 2,543 pinfalls.

Sarawak also finished out of frame in the girls’ doubles when their best pair of Nerosha Keligit and Jocelyna Judith Jonathan, with a total of 2,090 pinfalls, finished 17th among 25 pairs.Sarawak’s other pair of Nadine Kong and Jackelyn Ng Shuk Chuen ended up in 20th place, with 2,056 pins.

The event was won by Natasya Roslan and Dina Nur Nadia of Selangor, with a total of 2,462 pinfalls.

Nursyamimi Supardi and Syaidatul Afyna of Perak came in second with 2,348 pinfalls while Nur Amirah Auni and Fatin Hazwani of Penang got third place on 2,300 pins.

From Paris with love

Thursday, 17 March 2011 12:35 | Written by Hussin Abdul Rahman

KUALA LUMPUR: Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore had only three hours sleep after she returned from Paris on Tuesday but had enough energy and focus to win the gold medal in the women’s singles in the Astro 24th inter-state bowling tournament at Sunway Mega Lanes in Bandar Sunway yesterday.

Despite suffering jet-lag from her 12-hour flight, the Sarawakian posted scores of 122, 192, 276, 220, 170 and 169 for a total of 1,249 pinfalls over 6 games, giving her an average of 208.2, to hand Sarawak their first gold medal in the championships.

Asked how she felt about her win, Jacqueline, who also had mild chicken pox, was quick with her reply.

“Great.I had hoped to do well but didn’t really expect to win, “I had jet-lag as I just came back from Paris yesterday (Tuesday) after competing in the Euro Challenge,” said Jacqueline.

“I could not sleep the day and only had three hours’ sleep when I joined my Sarawak team-mates at the team hotel,” she said.

Jacqueline, who finished 9th and emerged as the best Malaysian women’s performer in the Paris event, thus justified her recent promotion to the national elite squad.

Fellow Sarawakian Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana, who was also promoted to the elite squad together with Jacqueline, finished fifth with 1,194.

National elite bowler Sin Li Jane of Perak, who was the women’s national champion last year, finished second with 1233 pinfalls while Jerusha Chan of Pahang finished third with 1231 pinfalls.

National bowler Hee Kar Yen of Kuala Lumpur, who together with Jacqueline, Siti Shazwani Ahmad Suhaimi, Zandara Aziela, Adrian Ang, Zulmazran Zulkifli, Aaron Kong, Muhd.Syafiq Ridhwan were in the team who competed in Paris, finished fourth on 1,219 pinfalls.

Jacqueline’s feat was more remarkable as she beat national team-mates like Sin Li Jane, Zandra (Selangor, 8th), Wendy Chai (WP/ KL, 10th)and Zatil Iman of Selangor, who finished 11th yesterday.

Sarawak’s good day was made complete when Aris Ardila Santosoh finished third in the men’s singles event won by national stalwart Alex Liew. Second was Muhd Shafiq Ridhwan of Kuala Lumpur, who had finished third in the Euro Challenge.

Alex, 35, posted scores of 212, 226, 263, 202, 206 and 206 for a total of 1315 while Shafiq had scores of 221, 213, 204, 204, 200, 233, 195, for a total of 1266 pinfalls.

Aris, who started slowly with a score of 155 in the first game, improved fast to score 204, 228, 219, 231 and 226 to total 1263, to finish on just three pins behind Shafiq.

State fielding second stringers for national meets

Posted on March 12, 2011, Saturday
KUCHING: Sarawak are fielding second stringers for the boys and girls events at the Astro 35th National Closed Championship and the Astro 24th InterState Championship at Sunway Megalanes, Sunway Pyramid in Selangor from March 16 to 19.

EXPOSURE TRIP: Francis Nyurang Ding (second right, middle row) presents the state colours to Lu and the state bowling team while MSNS coordinator for tenpin bowling Suefarinawati Tengah (left) looks on. — Photo by Davidson Kho

Team manager Robert Lu said yesterday this was the youngest team that the state has ever sent to the two events that are being jointly organised together with the Peter Yap Memorial Cup.

“We are sending the second liners from the state elite back-up team with the objective of giving the young bowlers exposure and a chance for them to perform at the national stage,” he said after receiving the state colours from Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) director Francis Nyurang Ding at Civic Centre Kuching.

He said a majority of the young bowlers would be making their debut at the national championship.
Lu, who is also vice president of Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (Abas), said no medals target has been set for the boys and girls teams but felt that the men’s team might have a fighting chance of winning some medals.

“They include Sukma XIII gold medallist Chong Jun Foo and national back-up bowler Aris Ardila Santosoh who was dropped from the squad last Friday by Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress upon orders from the National Sports Council due to budget problems,” he said.

Lu said the eight keglers dropped from the back-up squad especially Aris would be out to prove that they can beat the national bowlers and give them a good run for their money.

However, it would be no easy task for Sarawak to win in the men’s and women’s events because the state bowlers will be up against the best bowlers from the national line-up including Alex Liew, Adrian Ang, Aaron Kong, Zulmazran Zulkilfi, Zandra Aziela Ibrahim Hakimi, Sharon Koh, Esther Cheah and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman.

Other members of the men’s team are Kelvin Eng and Peter Pu.

The women’s team will be spearheaded by recently promoted national bowlers Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana Abg Jamalidon and Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore, Caroline Chien and Nurafidza Mohd Amran.

Bong Kihow will lead the boys team that also consists of Christopher Tiong, Jeremy Jerome Jonathan and Muhd Syafiq Sajeli while the girls team comprises Jackelyn Ng, Jocelyn Judith Jonathan, Nadine Kong and Nerosha Keligit.

Sarawak finished second in the interstate championship last year with six silver and one bronze medals.
The silvers were won by Daniel Tan in the boys singles, Jackelyn Ng in the girls singles, Aris Ardilla Santosoh and Chong Jun Foo in the men’s doubles, Jackelyn Ng and Nurafidza Mohd Amran in the girls doubles, the boys team and girls team while the solitary bronze was captured by Nurafidza Mohd Amran in the girls All-Events.

Meanwhile, the boys team for the National Closed consists of Jonathan Ding Sagan, Daniel Tan and Abang Nazreen Firdaus while the members of the girls team are Ellysha Syafeena, Farzana Ibrahim and Raylin Ang.
Eight bowlers including one girl will also be going to compete in the Peter Yap Memorial Cup for the U-15 and U-12 and the Youth Boys Graded as well as the Youth Girls Graded on their own initiative and expenses.

They are Adri Shahri Santosoh, Razif Safini, Mohd Uzair Irsyad, Jeff Jerry Hii, Ethan Lo, Brendan Phang, Joshua Joel Jonathan and Dayang Ainin Sofiya.

The state team is trained by head coach Jackson Ting and his assistants Reginald Walter Anggas, Angelo Koay and Jeff Chin.

Abas deputy president Shaifulbahri Shukri is the assistant team manager.

"Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character."
T Alan Armstrong (born 22 February 1975 in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear) was an English professional footballer.
Armstrong's first club was Newcastle United, where in October 1993 he came up from their youth team. He left in June 1994 having not played for them, and signed to Stockport County for £50,000. In 200 games for them, he scored 62 goals. In February 1998 he joined Middlesbrough for £1.6m. He stayed until 2000, when in March he joined Huddersfield Town for three months on loan. In December 2000 he joined Ipswich Town for £500,000. In the three years he was at Ipswich he scored 19 goals in 94 appearances, including a header in Ipswich's 1–0 win over Inter Milan in the 2001–02 UEFA Cup.

Kids, winning is one thing and its good but being a champion takes more than just winning tournaments. True champions always show good and proper discipline, attitude, positive and optimistic thinking, diligent and hard working, confident and courages but humble enough to inspire and be a worthy idol for their up and coming juniors.

"The Six W's: Work will win when wishing won't."
Todd Alan Blackledge - (February 25, 1961 in Canton, Ohio) was an American football quarterback in both the NCAA and National Football League. In college, he led the Penn State Nittany Lions to a national championship; and, as a pro, he played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1983–1987) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (1988–1989).
Blackledge was a three-year starter at Penn State, where he guided the Nittany Lions to 31–5 record including a national championship in 1982. Following the 1982 season, he won the Davey O'Brien Award for best quarterback in the nation.

Kids, wishing and hoping that your dream will come through without putting it to action, investing the effort and making the sacrifices then it will always remind exactly what it is initially, just a dream filled with wishful thinking.

Quote of the day!!!

"Ingenuity, plus courage, plus work, equals miracles."
The Rev. Robert "Bob" Eugene Richards - (born February 20, 1926, in Champaign, Illinois), known as the "Vaulting Vicar" or the "Pole Vaulting Parson" in his competitive days, was a versatile athlete who made three Olympic teams in two events. He competed in the 1948, 1952, and 1956 Summer Olympics as a pole vaulter, and also was a decathlete in 1956. He was the second man to pole vault 15 ft (4.6 m), and is the only two-time Olympic gold medal winner in the pole vault (1952 and 1956), with a bronze medal in 1948. He also was 13th in the 1956 decathlon. While a student at the University of Illinois, Richards tied for the national collegiate pole vault title and followed that with 20 national Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) titles, including 17 in the pole vault.
Ordained in 1946 as a minister in the Church of the Brethren, he was elected to the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1983 and the United States National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1975. As he aged, Richards continued participating in Track and Field in a variety of events, particularly throwing events. He was one of the first regular participants in the origins of what now has become Masters athletics

See even miracles don't come for free. You still got to use lots of smarts, have mountain sized guts, sacrifice oceans of sweat to be able to go beyond your expectations and limitations to achieve the unbelievable.

Quote of the day!!!

"Concentration is the ability to think about absolutely nothing when it is absolutely necessary."
Charles Ray Knight - (born December 28, 1952) is a former right-handed Major League Baseball third baseman best remembered for his time with the Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets. Originally drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the tenth round of the 1970 Major League Baseball Draft, he is likely best remembered to Reds fans as the man who replaced Pete Rose at third base, whereas Mets fans remember Knight as the man who scored the winning run of game six of the 1986 World Series and the MVP of that series.

Kids, think, consider, decide what you are going to do for the next shot before you step up on the approach cause after you set up its time to concentrate.

Quote of the day!!!

"Power is not revealed by striking hard or often, but by striking true."
Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr.; January 17, 1942) is a former American boxer and three-time World Heavyweight Champion, who is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweight championship boxers. As an amateur, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. After turning professional, he went on to become the first boxer to win the lineal heavyweight championship three times.
Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches. Notable among these are three with rival Joe Frazier and one with George Foreman, whom he beat by knockout to win the world heavyweight title for the second time. He suffered only five losses (four decisions and one TKO by retirement from the bout) with no draws in his career, while amassing 56 wins (37 knockouts and 19 decisions). Ali was well known for his unorthodox fighting style, which he described as "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee", and employing techniques such as the rope-a-dope. He was also known for his pre-match hype, where he would "trash talk" opponents on television and in person some time before the match, often with rhymes. These personality quips and idioms, along with an unorthodox fighting technique, made him a cultural icon. In later life, Ali developed Parkinson's disease. In 1999, Ali was crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated and "Sports Personality of the Century" by the BBC.

Kids, if "The Greatest" says so then it is so. Remember the candle and dun ever forget it!!!

Quote of the day!!!

"The day you take complete responsibility for yourself, the day you stop making any excuses, thats the day you start to the top."
Orenthal James "O. J." Simpson - (born July 9, 1947), nicknamed "The Juice", is a retired American football player.
Originally attaining a public profile in sports as a running back at the collegiate and professional levels, Simpson was the first NFL player to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, a mark he set during the 1973 season. While five other players have passed the 2,000 rush yard mark he stands alone as the only player to ever rush for more than 2,000 yards in a 14-game season (the NFL changed to a 16-game season in 1978). He also holds the record for the single season yards-per-game average which stands at 143.1 ypg. Simpson was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.

Kids, your journey and climb to the top only begins when you start taking responsibility to plant the right habits to nurture the right attitude - for your parents, your family, your sports and yourself, then take the initiative to discipline yourself, focus and commit to realising your goals and dreams with your full-hearted will, desire, determination and lots of hard work.

Quote of the day!!!

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."
Michael Jeffrey Jordan - (born February 17, 1963) became a legend in his trade of playing professional basketball  in the National Basketball Association (N.B.A.) with the Chicago Bulls.

Kids, not only did he failed many times as a professional basketball player but he was even deemed unskilled to even qualify to play for his high school team. Hard work, sweat, blood and tears with a never give up attitude, look at where and what he is now. The high school team coach that rejected him must be kicking himself everyday ever since.

Sarawak's Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore and Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana are now Malaysian Elite tigers!!!

More to cheer for Sarawak tenpin bowling fraternity as today we celebrate the success of Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore and Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana's inclusion into the Malaysian National Elite Team. A proud day it is for us when the announcement was made.

(from left to right) Jacqueline J. Sijore and Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana in the recent Asian Championships-Abu Dhabi in January, 2011.

Both girls practically grew up together in the sport as they have always been the cream of their generation of bowlers. Training hard, strong willed, right attitude and never once doubting their own abilities, they worked their way up the ranks from Pusat Cemerlang to U.S.P.T.N. AA, then AAA, made into the state's Elite Team then on was a fast ride into the National Youth Team as they belted titles after titles, followed by National Elite Backup and now at last, the holy grail of Malaysian tenpin bowling, Team Malaysia Elite.
After their strong performance in Sukma 2010 when they prove to the nation that they are one of the very best in the country by practically sweeping every event, the Girls Doubles, Trios, All-Event, they were duly awarded spots in the National Elite Backup team. With performances and results in the international scene throughout 2010, they have earned their Elite team status by pure merit.
The pair have been golden girls for our state and we hope their achievements will be an example for the new generation of upcoming trainees to replicate and even to better. The bar has been set boys and girls of Sarawak, are you ready to take up the challenge, the initiative and raise Sarawak's tenpin bowling success story to greater heights??!!!

Satria trainees part of Open League champion team!!!

The Sarawak Satria trainees are champions of an open league recently held in Crystal Bowl.
Anthony Luang Cheng (13 years old) after his 185 & Below league championship about a week before together with his training mate, Jeff Jerry Hii (14 years old), added another league title to his belt. Playing for team Millions Cafe powered by triple Sukma Gold medalist and member of  the Sarawak Elite tenpin bowling team with Jeff Chin Jit Chong, a former state representative himself and now a Pusat Cemerlang coach and seasoned league bowler, Jason Ling, they had to fight their way back after a poor start in the first round of this two round league format.
After the first 2 matches they actually found themselves lingering at the bottom of the league. With sheer determination, team spirit and team work, they fought their way back and never looked back. The rest as they say is history.

Quote of the day!!!

"Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts."
Dan Gable - (born October 25, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa) is an American amatuer wrestler. He is famous for having only lost one match in his entire Iowa State University collegiate career—his last, and winning gold at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany while not giving up a single point. He was the head coach at the University of Iowa where he won 15 NCAA team titles from 1976–1997.

Kids, if you have put in the sweat and determination but haven't gotten your gold medal yet then maybe you just haven't put in the alloy into the mix yet.

Quote of the day!!!

"The definition of insanity is doing something over and over again but expecting a different outcome."
-Shia LaBeouf in the movie Wall Street.

So kids, if you are always doing something the same and not achieving the results you want, then its high time to stop and change or improve your approach to achieving your goals.

Satria Kids - 1st Milo 185 & Below Trios Graded League 2010

In only their second outing in a league, the Satria Kids which team members are mostly trainees from the U.S.P.T.N. AA youth training program, surprised 17 other league seasoned teams to claim their maiden title.

(from left to right) Myron Khoo, Anthony Luang Cheng, Mohd Uzair Irsyad, Raylin Ang, Nerosha Keligit, Angelo Koay and missing from photo, Ellysha Syafeena.

The team was formed by the team of coaches, Jackson Ting, Reginald Walter Angkas, Angelo Koay, Myron Khoo and Jeff Chin Jit Chong, to enable these young trainees to gain valuable tournament feel and exposure. The team, fully funded by team members themselves, fought tooth and nail against a sea of favourite teams such as 90's, Yamaha, Unimas, just to name a few, but strong team and fighting spirit saw Satria grind out hard earned point after point through the grueling 18 weeks of league play to reach the pinnacle and earn the right to be crowned champions.
Satria with coaches, Myron Khoo and Angelo Koay, included themselves into the lineup to give more depth to the team as well as to help guide and teach these young trainees the psychological and tactical aspects of competitive tenpin bowling. Standing tall with the courage to rub shoulders with more senior bowlers, Anthony Luang Cheng (12 years old), Mohd Uzair Irsyad (13 years old), Raylin Ang Ke Xin (12 years old), Nerosha Keligit (14 years old) and Ellysha Syafeena (12 years old), proudly pulled their own weight and held their own. Motivated not by the cash rewards but the goal of putting their team name on the league challenge trophy as the first champions is what fueled and drove them to the summit.
Upholding and staying true to their new coach's calling of playing and winning the game not because of the dollars and cents but for pride, honour, and not merely making history but writing their own success stories, these trainees have shown that they have learned well. Unanimously the Satria Kids dedicated their win to all members of Sarawak Satria Trainees donning the orange uniform from P.C. to Elite and from Kuching to Sibu and to Miri.

Sarawak's Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore makes the cut!!!

The 2011 edition of the Brunswick Euro Challenge to be held in Paris next week will feature our favorite tenpin bowling team...TEAM MALAYSIA!!!
After an intense 2 days and 4 blocks of 24  games roll-off, this year's french Euro Challenge will be even more watched by Sarawakians as our very own Jacqueline Jenelee Sijore has qualified herself along with Siti Shazwani, Hee Kar Yen and Zandra Aziela for the Ladies team. The Men's team will feature Adrian Ang, Aaron Kong, Syafiq Ridhwan and Zulmazran Zulkifli. It was almost a double joy for Sarawak as another of us in the National Elite Backup Team trainee, Dayang Khairuniza Dhiyana finished 5th just outside the cut.

It was no walk in the park for the Sarawakian lass as a disastrous start in the first of 2 blocks saw her finish the 1st day in last position. After a meal of pasta coupled with a good nights rest, she clawed her way back to finish the 2nd and final day of 12 games in the top 4 which earned her a ticket to the city of romance and escargots.
Leaving next week then returning a week later to link up with her state team for the 24th Interstates Tenpin Bowling Championship, goes to show what kind of champion she is made of.....
PURE BRED SARAWAK SATRIA TOUGHNESS!!!
