Junior bowlers leading finals qualifying

Sarawak bowlers led the qualifying for finals of the Boys Graded, Boys Open, Girls Graded and Girls Open of the Sarawak leg of the Sportsexcel-NSC-Milo-MTBC Junior Circuit in the first block of six games at Megalanes East Bowling Centre here on Friday.
Daniel Tan from Kuching topped the field of 14 bowlers in the Boys Open when he felled a total of 1,256 pins with an average game of 209 pins. Trailing him by a mere six points was teammate Jeremy Jerome Johnathan while in third place was Christopher Tiong of Sibu with 1,209 pins.
Fourth was Ahmad Fawwaz Farhan Abdullah who downed 1,206 pins while another Sabahan Azril Fahkree Khainih who hit eight strikes in a row in his first game for 268 pins, faltered in his following games to finish in fifth spot with 1,183 pins. Sixth was Ervin Lim who garnered 1,164 pins.
As for the Girls Open, Farzana made a slow start but finished strongly in the fourth to fifth games to register a total of 1,206 pins to lead the eight-player field.
Last year’s third placing Nerosha Kelgit Thiagarajan was second with 1,095 pins while in third place was last year’s runner-up Jackelyn Ng who recorded 1,084 pins.
Sabah’s Nabilah Kassim and Dzuriani Dzulkiplee finished fourth and fifth with 1,070 pins and 1,016 pins respectively while in sixth place was off form Dayang Aida Natasha Abg Jamallidon.
In the Boys Graded, Abang Azlan Yunus Abang Azman of Sarawak bowled consistently with a line of 201, 229, 245, 224, 204 and 139 for a total of 1,242 pins to sit atop the leader board.
Muhd Uzair Irsyad Noorazrul, who started promisingly with 233 pins in the first game, was unable to keep up the pace and settled for second with 1,230 pins.
Third to sixth placings were Sabah’s Ahmad Azraei Tamring (1,224), Sarawak’s James Ting (1,190), Sabah’s Ahmad Tarmizi Tamring (1,178) and Mohd Ainal Narshad (1,136), and Abg Afiq Syazani Abg Jamaliddon (1,133) of Sarawak.
The leader in the Girls Graded was Jocelyna Judith Jonathan of Sarawak who scored 1,137 pins, followed by Sabah’s Nurul Adilah Junaidi ten pins behind, and her teammate Alexandra Edith John with 1,077 pins.
Sarawak’s Cherfenny Layun Parag and Adilya Natasya Roshaili were fourth and fifth with 1,072 pins and 1,061 pins respectively while Sabahan Nurul Atiqah Junaidi came in sixth with 1,056 pins.
